WALKERTOWN - Mr. James Marvin Tuttle, 81, of Walkertown died Wednesday morning, Aug. 24, 2005, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Stokes County .to Shelby and Hermie Boles Tuttle. Mr. Tuttle was retired from Gant Oil Co. with over 40 years of service and was the first person to receive the key to Walkertown. Marvin grew up in Stokes County, where he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in World War II. He was a charter member and helped build Isom Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bertha Farmer Tuttle, of the home; two daughters, Christine (Dale) Harris of Mt. Airy and Sara Richter of Florida; two sons, Michael (Joann) Tuttle of Winston-Salem and Larry Wayne (Darlene) Tuttle of Colfax; .three brothers, Kenneth Tuttle and Byron Tuttle, both of Walkertown, and Marshall Tuttle of White Lake; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ralph Mitchell and the Rev. Chester Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory with military honors provided by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends two hours before the service starting at 2 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home, Walnut Cove, and other times at his home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
